Trains
Hatfield railway station is the closest train station to our University.
It’s roughly a 30-minute walk from the University and fast service trains are available from London Kings Cross every 20 minutes during the weekdays (Monday – Friday) into Hatfield.
Hatfield is also connected to a wide range of locations including Welwyn Garden City, Moorgate, and Finsbury Park railway stations into Hatfield.

There are Uno buses which connect from Hatfield station to your campus - see the next section for more details.
Buses
You can use the Uno buses to get to campus; our service has local buses which cover Hertfordshire and North London. To get your student subsidised rate on our buses make sure you always have your student ID card with you. The intercampus shuttle bus will begin on Monday 4 September. Make sure to purchase your ticket before boarding.
Zone One is our discounted student and staff network covering a wide range of routes in Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Luton, Watford and much more.
Bus 614 and 644 from station 3 connect from Hatfield railway station and stop on both campuses - de Havilland and outside The Forum on College Lane.
Bus 653 from St Albans City station drops off outside of de Havilland campus and the Forum in College Lane.
Discounted tickets/e-tickets are available for all students to purchase on the Uno bus app and on the buses. As part of a Government initative, Uno bus are offering single fair tickets for £2 until 31 December 2024, you can purchase a discounted ticket on the Uno buses via cash or contactless through the Uno bus app.

Cycling
We encourage you to keep active and help reduce our carbon footprint when commuting to campus.
If you commute by bicycle or scooters to University, we have our Herts Mobile app where you can access information on bicycle rack sites on the campus maps and on travelling to University.

Walking
It is important that you keep active and productive throughout the day, it improves your mood and cardiovascular health! If you live locally, you could use a travel app which can get you to our campuses.
Google Maps is a useful travel tool to use while walking to campus, the app has various features that can simplify your journey to Herts.
Set your location on the travel app, search for de Havilland or College Lane campus then you are good to go!
We also have our Herts Mobile app where you can access information on travelling to your campus including your classrooms.
Park and Ride
We have Park and Ride – so that if you are a driver, you can make use of our 800 free parking spaces and then use our regular shuttle bus to get to College Lane.
If your classes are in de Havilland, you can access our frequent intercampus shuttle buses from College Lane to your campus.
Our free parking spaces are located at Angerland AL10 8HS and are available from 7.00 to 22.00 Monday to Friday. Park and Ride buses run during term time only. Park and Ride will re-start on Monday 11 September 2023.
It costs just £1 to use the shuttle bus, you can purchase a ticket from the ticket machines at the bus stop and you can pay with cash or card.

Commuting by car
Herts is near the A1, M11 and M1 motorways.
To drive to campus, enter the postcode and address of your student parking area from your GPS navigation tool then follow the driving directions to get to the University.

You will need a parking permit, to access student car park sites, and register your car and payment details on our Uni’s Hozah website.
You will receive a confirmation email once you have registered, check out your junk/spam mail if it doesn’t appear in your inbox. If you haven’t received a confirmation email, please contact the Parking Team.
Parking is free for two hours with a no return period of three hours – which means any time after three hours you will have to pay for parking. For example: If you have a lecture that finishes at 11.00 followed by another class at 16.00, it is best to pay for an extended number of hours that covers your whole day at Uni.
